Called to serve

My name is Sophia Gomez and I’m 21 years old. I recently started my first year of Oceans Bible College in January which has sparked my desire to serve God and its community in a new way, and that is why you are on my website. I graduated High School in 2021 from Godinez Fundamental. One of my biggest hobbies is fashion. I like creating my own personal style and getting inspiration from "modest fashion", I like to think my style is "modest chic".

Something that has also always been in my heart is the Missionary work. I have always had compassion for God’s people and have felt the burden of just showing them God’s love. I truly believe that God has put a burden in my heart for the people in the Philippines and that is why I have decided to participate in a Missions Trip to the Philippines on August 12, 2024, alongside a group of fellow Oceans Bible College students, under the leadership of AltaGracia Missions. 

In January of this year, I started attending Ocean's Bible College in Orange County. The goal of the program is to create leaders in the Christian Church community. My program is 3 years long, at the end of which, my goal is to use all the knowledge learned to do Missionary Work around the world and create a conscious fashion business that supports this cause. 

At the beginning of the year I attended a church night service, that they call Wave Night, where I officially became a member of Oceans Church. That night I met a lady who was sitting next to me. Her name is Ceferina Brackett and her husband's name is David. She shared they are founders of AltaGracia Missions. She shared with me a little about the missions' work they do and how students from the Bible College also travel with them. I felt inspired by what they do. That night, I prayed and asked God to give me a sign if it was His will and if He wanted me to join the mission trip, to give me a confirmation.
